Saudi-led coalition forces have carried out airstrikes targeting an oil facility in Yemen’s western Hodeidah province, amid escalating tensions with the Houthi movement. The strikes reportedly hit a Yemen Oil Company facility in Bajil district. Houthi-affiliated media reported that three people sustained injuries in the attack.
The operation came as Saudi Arabia intensified military action against Houthi-linked resources following repeated attacks involving missiles and drones.
Coalition Targets Houthi Military Resources
The Saudi-led coalition said it had launched an operation to neutralise resources used by the Houthis to launch ballistic missiles and drones.
Coalition spokesperson Turki al-Maliki announced the operation on Sunday. However, the initial statement did not identify the specific location or provide details about casualties.
Houthi-affiliated outlets later reported strikes on the oil facility in Hodeidah province.
Tensions Escalate Between Saudi Arabia and Houthis
The latest strikes come amid renewed fighting between Saudi-backed forces and the Houthis.
Both sides have exchanged attacks in recent weeks, raising concerns about further instability across Yemen and neighbouring areas.
The Houthis have also claimed attacks on Saudi oil installations and airports. Meanwhile, Saudi forces have reported intercepting missiles launched towards locations inside the kingdom.
Regional Security Concerns Grow
The renewed clashes have increased concerns about the security of critical infrastructure and shipping routes near the Red Sea. Yemen’s prolonged conflict has already caused widespread displacement and damaged essential services.
The latest military operation adds to tensions as both sides continue exchanging accusations and attacks. The reported injuries and damage at the oil facility have not been independently verified.
