Saudi Arabia may offer fresh employment opportunities for Pakistani workers as companies in the Kingdom receive encouragement to recruit more Pakistanis. The development could strengthen employment prospects abroad, particularly as Saudi Arabia remains a major destination for Pakistan’s overseas workforce.
Issam Baig, chairman of Pakistani overseas recruitment firm Jan Mohammad & Sons, said several major Saudi companies shared this message during his recent visits to Riyadh and Jeddah.
According to Baig, Saudi authorities have encouraged businesses to accommodate more Pakistani nationals, potentially creating new opportunities for job seekers.
Saudi Companies Receive Push to Hire Pakistanis
Baig said executives from three to four major Saudi companies conveyed similar messages during his meetings. He said the development reflected positively on bilateral relations and employment prospects for Pakistanis.
“They have told us that they have been told and pushed by Riyadh and their ministries to accommodate more Pakistanis,” Baig said.
However, he stressed that Pakistan must maintain the confidence Saudi employers place in its workforce by providing qualified candidates.
“We should uphold that trust by sending them quality manpower,” he said.
His remarks highlight the importance of matching recruitment opportunities with workers who possess the necessary skills and professional qualifications.
Saudi Arabia Remains Pakistan’s Biggest Overseas Employment Destination
Saudi Arabia continues to attract the largest share of Pakistani workers seeking employment abroad. Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment (BE&OE) figures underline the Kingdom’s importance in overseas recruitment.
Between January 2024 and September 2026, more than 1.21 million Pakistanis registered for overseas employment in Saudi Arabia. This represented nearly 65 percent of the 1.87 million Pakistanis registered for jobs abroad during the period.
Annual registrations for Saudi employment also increased over recent years.
- 2023: 426,951 workers
- 2024: 452,648 workers
- 2025: 530,437 workers
- January–September 2026: 258,178 workers
The figures show that registrations reached their highest annual level in 2025 among the full years listed. However, the 2026 figure covers only nine months.
Meanwhile, a senior BE&OE official said the government is monitoring developments across the Middle East. The review aims to understand employment trends and prepare future projections.
Why Saudi Employment Matters for Pakistan
Overseas employment remains important for Pakistan’s economy, particularly because Gulf countries employ millions of Pakistani nationals.
These workers also contribute foreign currency through remittances sent to their families. Pakistan received a record $41.6 billion in remittances during fiscal year 2026.
Therefore, any expansion in overseas recruitment could hold significance for workers seeking income opportunities and households relying on earnings from abroad.
Earlier this year, officials also indicated that accessing employment opportunities in Saudi Arabia could become easier for Pakistanis.
Nevertheless, the latest recruitment signals do not establish a specific number of new vacancies or confirm hiring timelines. For now, the emphasis remains on employer interest and Pakistan’s ability to supply skilled manpower.
As Saudi companies consider expanding their Pakistani workforce, the availability of qualified candidates could prove important in turning recruitment encouragement into actual employment opportunities.
