Cabinet Condemns Attacks on Energy and Maritime Infrastructure
Saudi Arabia has vowed a firm response to attacks targeting its security, economic interests and critical infrastructure.
The Saudi Cabinet issued the warning during a meeting chaired by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman in Jeddah on Tuesday.
The Cabinet condemned attacks on oil facilities in the Riyadh and Eastern regions. It accused Iran-linked militias operating from Yemen and Iraq of carrying out the hostile actions.
Saudi ministers also denounced attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea.
The government said such incidents threatened regional stability, energy security and international shipping routes.
Saudi authorities said air defence systems had intercepted several drones launched from Iraqi territory. The drones were reportedly targeting petroleum facilities inside the Kingdom.
The Cabinet said Saudi Arabia would not hesitate to protect its national security, vital interests and strategic assets.
It warned that any response would follow international humanitarian law, customary international law and the principle of proportionality.
The statement reflected growing concern over attacks on energy infrastructure and commercial shipping across the region.
Saudi oil facilities remain vital to global energy markets. Any major disruption could affect petroleum supplies and international prices.
The Red Sea is also an important route for global trade. Attacks on commercial vessels have created serious risks for shipping companies and international supply chains.
Saudi Arabia Urges Iraq to Prevent Cross-Border Attacks
The Saudi Cabinet called on the Iraqi government to take immediate action.
It urged Baghdad to prevent Iraqi territory from being used as a launch site for attacks against the Kingdom.
Saudi Arabia said neighbouring states must ensure that armed groups cannot use their land to threaten regional countries.
Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi has ordered security authorities to investigate Saudi claims that drones were launched from Iraq.
The investigation will examine the reported attack and determine whether armed groups operating inside Iraq were involved.
Riyadh said respect for sovereignty and good-neighbourly relations must remain central to regional security.
The Cabinet also stressed the importance of preventing non-state armed groups from creating wider instability.
Saudi Arabia has repeatedly warned that attacks on civilian infrastructure could trigger a dangerous regional escalation.
The Kingdom said it would continue working with regional and international partners to defend its territory and protect key economic facilities.
The latest warning came as tensions increased across the Middle East.
Iran-linked groups in Yemen and Iraq have been accused of launching drones and missiles against Saudi targets.
The groups have also been linked to threats against vessels operating in the Red Sea.
Saudi Arabia said hostile actions against energy infrastructure and shipping routes could not be accepted.
Crown Prince Reviews Regional Diplomatic Efforts
The Cabinet also reviewed recent diplomatic discussions led by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The Saudi leader held telephone conversations with Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and British Prime Minister Andy Burnham.
Shehbaz Sharif remains Pakistan’s prime minister, while Andy Burnham became British prime minister on July 20, 2026.
The discussions focused on regional developments and efforts to reduce tensions.
Saudi Arabia said it remained committed to protecting navigation in the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea.
The Cabinet also highlighted the importance of maintaining regional and international stability.
Despite its warning of a decisive response, Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its support for dialogue and diplomacy.
The Kingdom called for respect for national sovereignty and non-interference in the internal affairs of other states.
It also stressed the importance of peaceful relations between neighbouring countries.
The Cabinet said freedom of navigation must be protected under international law.
Saudi Arabia will continue consulting friendly countries to reduce tensions and strengthen maritime security.
However, the Kingdom made clear that diplomatic engagement would not prevent it from defending its territory.
The Cabinet said Saudi Arabia would take all necessary measures to protect its citizens, infrastructure and commercial interests.
