Samsung and Google have offered the first official preview of their upcoming AI-powered smart glasses during Google I/O 2026, giving users an early look at wearable technology designed to deliver hands-free digital experiences.
Samsung initially announced the project in October last year and confirmed that it has been developing the device in partnership with Google along with eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. The smart glasses will operate on Android XR and will launch in two separate designs, with each eyewear partner creating its own version.
Meanwhile, both companies stated that the wearable will provide direct access to Gemini through voice commands, allowing users to interact with AI without relying on smartphones for every task.
Users will also be able to request turn-by-turn navigation, search for nearby places, and receive personalized recommendations in real time. In addition, the glasses will support several productivity features, including summarized message alerts, calendar management, and task completion tools.
At the same time, Google and Samsung confirmed that the glasses will support real-time language translation during conversations. The companies also said the built-in camera and AI functions will instantly translate text, signs, and other visual information.
Furthermore, users will have the ability to capture photos and videos directly through the wearable device. Similar to existing smart glasses on the market, the product will function as a companion device paired with a smartphone.
Although the companies have not released detailed hardware specifications, official images reveal a single camera setup and an LED indicator light. Samsung and Google currently plan to launch the AI-powered glasses later this fall.
