Samar Haroon Bilour has formally assumed charge as adviser to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) governor on Information and Public Relations, pledging to work for public welfare, peace and prosperity across the province.
After taking charge, Bilour visited her office at Lahori Gate in Peshawar, where party workers and supporters welcomed her. She later spoke to media representatives, expressing gratitude for the confidence placed in her and promising to fulfil her responsibilities with dedication.
Public Welfare and Peace Among Key Priorities
Bilour said serving the people of K-P was an honour and vowed to continue her family’s tradition of public service. She said the Bilour family had made significant sacrifices for the region and the country.
She also expressed her desire to see the province’s residents enjoy greater prosperity. According to her, sustainable peace remains essential for economic progress, development and improved living standards.
Responding to a question about governor’s rule, Bilour said authorities had not yet determined how long the arrangement would remain in place. Her remarks come as the province undergoes significant administrative changes following the federal government’s imposition of emergency rule.
Bilour Criticises Previous Governance
Bilour criticised the provincial administration’s performance over the past 13 years, alleging that political discourse had increasingly become abusive and that Peshawar had suffered from neglect and deteriorating urban conditions.
She maintained that K-P had sufficient resources and potential to progress alongside other provinces. However, she stressed that effective governance, a clear strategy and a commitment to development were necessary to achieve that goal.
Her appointment comes amid heightened political tensions and security concerns in K-P. As adviser on information, she is expected to communicate the administration’s policies and priorities while addressing public concerns about the province’s future.
