PTA Urges Users to Activate Free Balance Save Service
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has advised mobile phone users to activate the Balance Save or PAYG Blocker service to prevent unexpected balance deductions.
The facility is available for customers of major mobile networks, including Jazz, Zong, Ufone and Telenor Pakistan.
The warning focuses mainly on prepaid customers who use mobile internet packages.
When an internet bundle expires or its allocated data is completely consumed, mobile internet may continue under standard Pay-As-You-Go rates.
This can result in the remaining prepaid balance being deducted for internet usage.
PTA said activating the Balance Save facility can prevent this problem.
Once enabled, the service blocks mobile internet when the subscribed data allowance is exhausted instead of allowing PAYG charges to consume the remaining balance.
The service is designed to give consumers greater control over their mobile spending and reduce accidental charges.
Balance Save Codes for Jazz, Zong, Ufone and Telenor
PTA has advised subscribers to use operator-specific USSD codes to activate the facility.
The current activation codes are:
- Jazz: Dial
*275# - Zong: Dial
*4004# - Ufone: Dial
*6611# - Telenor Pakistan: Dial
*342#
The regulator has confirmed these codes as part of its consumer awareness campaign.
Zong also confirms on its official website that customers can activate its Balance Save Offer by dialing *4004#.
The company describes it as a free service that allows mobile internet usage through bundles while protecting the customerโs main balance.
Users should dial the relevant code directly from the SIM on which they want to activate the service.
After activation, subscribers should receive confirmation from their mobile operator.
How Balance Save Protects Your Mobile Credit
Mobile data can consume prepaid credit quickly when no active internet bundle is available.
For example, a subscriber may finish a daily, weekly or monthly data allowance but continue using social media, streaming services or other applications.
Without a PAYG blocker, the network may begin charging for that internet activity directly from the userโs main balance.
The customer may not immediately notice the deductions, particularly when applications continue using data in the background.
The Balance Save service addresses this issue by stopping mobile internet once the package allowance ends.
Users can then purchase another internet bundle before resuming mobile data usage.
PTA has encouraged consumers to activate the feature as a simple precaution against unintended charges.
The facility can be particularly useful for customers who frequently use mobile data or maintain significant prepaid credit on their SIMs.
Subscribers should also continue monitoring their active packages and remaining data through their operatorโs official application, USSD menu or customer service channels.
The regulatorโs advisory is part of wider efforts to improve transparency and protect consumers from unexpected telecom charges.
