A United States university has announced fully-funded scholarships for the PhD students. The candidates, selected for the PhD study, will receive scholarships through the Richard and Peggy Notebaert Premier Fellowship.
According to the latest information, the University of Notre Dame in the United States has opened graduate applications for its 2027 intake, offering funding opportunities for incoming PhD students. Selected students can receive full tuition support and an annual stipend through the Richard and Peggy Notebaert Premier Fellowship.
Applicants must apply for admission through Notre Dame’s graduate application portal to receive consideration for the fellowship.
Fellowship offers five years of funding
The fellowship provides an annual stipend of $46,000 to $48,000, depending on the academic programme. It also covers the full premium for the university-sponsored student health insurance plan.
Moreover, Notre Dame guarantees five years of support as long as fellows maintain satisfactory academic progress. Fellows can also receive priority access to additional funding for conferences, research trips, presentations and other professional activities. The university says the fellowship comes from the largest single donation it has received for graduate education.
Eligibility and English requirements
Students seeking the award must secure admission to a full-time graduate programme at Notre Dame. International students can also apply for admission and fellowship consideration.
The Graduate School generally requires applicants to hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification. Applicants also need an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. However, individual departments may impose additional requirements. Admitted full-time students receive automatic consideration for selected fellowships. Departments nominate candidates based on academic records and graduate study potential.
For English proficiency, applicants may submit IELTS, TOEFL or Duolingo scores when required.
Notre Dame requires a minimum IELTS score of 7.0 or a Duolingo score of 120. The university offers PhD programmes across science, engineering, humanities, social sciences, global affairs and business.
