Authorities Introduce Evidence-Based Monitoring Across City Roads
Rawalpindi traffic police launched the digital traffic challan “One App” on Wednesday, introducing what officials described as the city’s first evidence-based traffic enforcement system.
According to a traffic police spokesperson, the initiative marked a historic step toward transparent and technology-driven enforcement in Rawalpindi. Officials stated that the new system would rely on mandatory video evidence before issuing traffic challans, ensuring greater accountability and reducing disputes between motorists and enforcement officers.
Under the new mechanism, traffic wardens will digitally record violations through integrated devices, while motorists will gain access to the footage for verification and security purposes. Authorities explained that the system would immediately document traffic offences and store video records within a centralised platform.
Additionally, officials said the application would conduct instant verification of Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) and driving licences during roadside checks.
The integrated system will also verify vehicle ownership details, fitness certificates, and route permits to improve compliance and strengthen traffic regulation across the city.
Integrated Platform Expands Checks Beyond Traffic Violations
Authorities confirmed that the digital platform would also support action against encroachments and environmental violations through electronic monitoring and documentation.
Furthermore, the application will allow officers to examine First Information Report (FIR) records and electronic challans through a connected verification system. Citizens will receive complete details regarding traffic violations through QR codes generated during enforcement proceedings.
Chief Traffic Officer Rawalpindi Farhan Aslam said the “One App” system would improve road discipline, public safety, and operational transparency throughout the city.
He added that digital enforcement would modernise traffic management while helping authorities maintain safer and more organised travel conditions for residents and commuters.
The launch reflects broader efforts by law enforcement agencies to incorporate technology into urban governance and public service delivery systems.
