The announcement was made by the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, citing that the dam’s water level had surged to 1,748 feet — necessitating immediate regulatory action.
The decision to open the spillways comes as a precautionary and essential measure to manage the increasing inflow of water from surrounding catchment areas and to prevent any potential overflow of the reservoir.
