With continued tensions influencing the dynamics in the region, Qatar made its position clear that it does not act as a mediator in negotiations between the US and Iran.
According to Qatar’s foreign ministry spokesman Majed Al-Ansari on Wednesday, high-level meetings have been continuing with Pakistan, the United States, and others. As emphasized by the spokesman, this was done to strengthen the existing ceasefire agreement and avoid escalation. Interestingly enough, the spokesman added that since the beginning of the ceasefire, Qatar has not faced any attacks from the Iranian side.
Focus on stability and regional balance
Nonetheless, according to Al-Ansari, temporary stability is insufficient, adding that a permanent and holistic approach is fundamental for the achievement of sustainable stability in the region. In addition, he added that no country should dominate critical water routes in the region.
Pakistanโs diplomatic push gains momentum
At the same time, Shehbaz Sharif has embarked upon his official tour to Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, which will continue until April 18. In both Riyadh and Doha, he will focus on deepening relations between the countries and resolving regional peace and security matters.
In Turkey, Sharif will participate in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum and present Pakistanโs stance on international affairs there. He will also hold talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoฤan as well as with other heads of states and governments.
