LAHORE: The Punjab government is introducing new laws for regulating the housing societies in an organized manner across the province, including Lahore.
Under the proposed rules, housing schemes will have to provide access to digital revenue records as part of efforts to improve transparency.
Moreover, authorities will digitise the approval and no-objection certificate process for private housing schemes across Punjab.
The new system will also regulate the registration of property dealers and monitor advertisements issued by housing schemes.
Furthermore, the government plans to introduce third-party verification of development costs to strengthen oversight of housing projects.
Officials say the measure will help improve transparency and ensure that development expenses remain subject to independent scrutiny.
Meanwhile, authorities will develop a formal procedure to regularise illegal housing schemes operating across the province.
The government also plans strict action against individuals and organisations that violate the proposed housing laws.
These measures aim to strengthen regulatory controls and reduce irregularities within Punjab’s rapidly expanding housing sector.
In addition, the digitisation of records and approval procedures could improve monitoring and make housing scheme information more accessible.
The reforms are expected to establish clearer procedures for developers while giving authorities greater oversight of private housing projects.
However, the Punjab Central Business District Authority has denied the existence of any illegal housing scheme.
The authority’s statement comes as the provincial government prepares to introduce broader regulatory measures for housing societies.
Officials are expected to implement the new framework after completing the necessary legal and administrative procedures.
