Punjab Law Minister Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan has ordered an immediate investigation into the alleged abduction of a woman in Lahore. He directed police to register a first information report (FIR) without delay and ensure a transparent investigation.
The incident reportedly occurred within the jurisdiction of Sundar Police Station. The minister also sought an immediate report from the SP Saddar Lahore regarding the case.
He instructed police to register the FIR based on the complaint submitted by the victim’s mother. Furthermore, he ordered authorities to conduct a thorough, impartial and merit-based investigation.
Minister Directs Police To Ensure Swift Action
Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan directed police to recover the woman safely at the earliest opportunity. He also instructed authorities to arrest the accused immediately and bring everyone responsible before the law.
Moreover, the minister stressed that no leniency would be shown to those involved in the alleged crime. He ordered strict legal action against the suspects while ensuring professional handling of the investigation.
He also directed officials to provide every possible legal assistance to the affected family. Therefore, authorities must complete the investigation promptly to ensure timely justice.
Punjab Reaffirms Commitment To Women’s Safety
The minister reiterated the Punjab government’s commitment to protecting women across the province. He said there would be no compromise on citizens’ safety, dignity and fundamental rights.
Furthermore, Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan said the government would maintain a zero-tolerance policy against crimes targeting women. He added that the administration remains committed to enforcing the rule of law under the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
Separately, the minister visited the residence of late former National Assembly member Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar. He offered condolences to the bereaved family and met Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Malik Zaheer Iqbal Channar.
During the visit, he offered prayers for the departed leader and praised his contributions to politics, public welfare and social service. He also assured the family of the Punjab government’s support during their time of grief.
