The Punjab government has announced a significant increase in rewards for top-performing matriculation students while introducing several digital reforms aimed at improving transparency and efficiency across the province’s education system.
The announcement came as Punjab’s educational boards simultaneously declared the 2026 annual matriculation examination results. Alongside the results, Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat unveiled a series of initiatives designed to modernize examination management and student services.
Cash Reward Increased Fivefold
The provincial government has raised the cash prize for matriculation position holders from Rs100,000 to Rs100,000, a fivefold increase from the previous Rs20,000 award.
In addition to the enhanced cash prize, all position holders will also receive a laptop in recognition of their academic achievements.
The minister said the simultaneous announcement of results by all educational boards was intended to strengthen transparency and ensure uniformity across Punjab.
Technology Introduced to Improve Transparency
According to the minister, authorities used modern technology for the first time to prepare the 2026 matriculation results.
Students can now download officially verified result cards online without requiring additional authentication. Meanwhile, students enrolled in private schools can obtain verified result cards through their institutions’ online portals.
Officials believe these measures will simplify access to academic records while reducing unnecessary paperwork.
AI Chatbot and Digital Reforms Announced
The Punjab government also announced the launch of an AI-powered chatbot to help students obtain examination-related information instantly.
Furthermore, the education department plans to accelerate the digitalization of educational boards across the province.
Beginning next year, authorities intend to introduce a screen-marking system to strengthen transparency during paper checking.
Students will also be able to review their examination papers through a QR code-based system. Officials expect the initiative to improve confidence in the marking process while enhancing accountability.
Government Highlights Improvements in Examination System
The minister stated that authorities received no complaints this year regarding the alleged sale of examination centres.
He also claimed that efforts by the provincial government reduced organized cheating networks by 95 percent across Punjab.
Additionally, he said enrollment in public universities has increased significantly, describing it as a positive sign for the province’s education sector.
