Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has distributed laptops and Honhaar Scholarships among students from Sahiwal, Okara and Pakpattan as part of the provincial government’s education support initiatives.
The ceremony took place at the University of Sahiwal on October 15, marking the start of a planned distribution drive across Punjab’s nine divisions.
Students Receive Educational Support
The initiative aims to support students through access to digital devices and financial assistance for higher education. Laptops can help students conduct research, prepare assignments and access online learning resources, while scholarships can ease the burden of tuition fees for eligible recipients.
The government has not publicly specified the exact number of laptops and scholarships distributed during the Sahiwal ceremony.
Distribution Planned Across Punjab
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat previously announced that similar ceremonies would take place across all nine divisions during October and November.
The Sahiwal event covers students from three districts. Further ceremonies are expected to extend the programme to students in other parts of the province.
The initiative forms part of the provincial government’s wider efforts to expand educational opportunities and improve students’ access to technology.
Further Details Awaited
Authorities have yet to announce the complete schedule for the remaining divisions or the number of awards allocated to each event. Students should follow official government and education department announcements for updates about future ceremonies and distribution arrangements.
