KARACHI: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has announced a local holiday on June 8 to observe the annual Urs of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi (RA). According to an official notification issued by the Human Resource Management Department, the city administration declared June 8, corresponding to 22 Zul Hijjah 1447 AH, as a public holiday within Karachi’s municipal limits.
Decision Approved by City Authorities
The notification stated that the holiday was approved following a resolution passed by the Karachi City Council. All offices under the administrative control of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation will remain closed on the designated day. Officials confirmed that the competent authority formally endorsed the decision after reviewing administrative procedures.
Essential Services to Continue Operations
However, authorities clarified that departments providing essential and emergency services will continue functioning without interruption to ensure public convenience. In addition, relevant divisions have been instructed to maintain routine operations in critical sectors such as sanitation, emergency response, and municipal support services.
Meanwhile, KMC officials emphasized that all departments have been directed to ensure smooth implementation of the notification across the city. Furthermore, they said internal coordination mechanisms have been activated to avoid any disruption in civic services during the holiday period.
