LAHORE: The Punjab government has declared a local holiday in Lahore on August 4 on the occasion of the annual Urs celebrations of Hazrat Ali Hajveri, widely known as Data Ganj Bakhsh.
Government offices to remain closed
According to an official notification, district-level government offices in Lahore operating under the authority of the Deputy Commissioner will remain closed on the announced holiday.
Moreover, the decision applies only to offices functioning at the district level. Authorities issued the notification to facilitate arrangements for the annual religious event.
Provincial offices to operate normally
However, the Punjab Civil Secretariat and other provincial government departments will remain open and continue their routine operations.
Furthermore, the notification clarified that the holiday does not extend to provincial institutions. Therefore, employees working in provincial government offices will follow their regular working schedules on August 4 despite the local holiday in Lahore.
