Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan on Monday said the party’s planned march on Islamabad would remain peaceful. He rejected claims that PTI supporters intended to storm the federal capital or take the law into their own hands.
Speaking to the media in Peshawar ahead of the party’s September 27 march, Gohar stressed that PTI would continue pursuing its political objectives through peaceful means. He said the party had consistently followed a non-violent approach and would maintain that policy.
PTI Reaffirms Peaceful Strategy
The PTI chairman stated that the party’s upcoming march aims to press for the release of founder Imran Khan and highlight other political demands. However, he emphasized that supporters would conduct the protest in a peaceful manner.
“We have remained peaceful and will continue to be peaceful,” Gohar said. He maintained that PTI remained committed to democratic and constitutional methods despite facing political challenges.
Gohar argued that the party was being targeted despite avoiding violence. He pointed to recent developments involving PTI leaders and supporters as evidence of what he described as political pressure.
Concerns Over Arrests Ahead of March
The PTI chairman referred to the detention of Imran Khan’s sisters and the arrests of party workers and lawmakers. According to him, these actions occurred ahead of the planned Islamabad march.
Gohar alleged that authorities had arrested around 1,500 PTI workers before the protest. He further claimed that senators, members of the National Assembly, provincial legislators, and ministers were among those detained.
The party continues preparations for the September 27 demonstration while urging supporters to remain peaceful. Meanwhile, the planned march remains a key political event as PTI seeks to advance its demands through public mobilization.
