Pakistan Single Window (PSW) has signed an agreement with the Pakistan Airport Authority (PAA) to digitise Cargo Throughput Charges. The new system will begin operating at Jinnah International Airport Karachi from August 27, 2026. It aims to replace traditional paperwork with a faster digital payment network.
Pakistan Airport Authority Director Commercial Abdul and PSW Chief Admin Officer Naveed Abbas Memon signed the agreement on behalf of their organisations.
Several senior officials attended the signing ceremony. These included Deputy Director General Airports Sadiqur Rehman, Deputy Director General Sameer Saeed and PSW Chief Executive Officer Aftab Haider.
Digital System to Reduce Paperwork
The new digital system will simplify the process of paying cargo-related charges at the airport. Businesses and other users will no longer need to rely heavily on physical paperwork.
Moreover, the system aims to reduce queues and unnecessary visits to banks. Users will instead benefit from a faster and more convenient digital payment process.
The initiative forms part of wider efforts to modernise Pakistan’s trade and logistics systems. Digital services can also reduce administrative delays and improve coordination between relevant organisations.
Digital CTC System to Improve Transparency
The collaboration between PSW and PAA is expected to improve transparency in air cargo trade payments. It will also make the collection process more efficient.
Furthermore, the digital Cargo Throughput Charges system will strengthen real-time monitoring of cargo collections. Authorities will have better access to payment information and transaction records.
The initiative could also help improve oversight of cargo-related financial processes at Jinnah International Airport.
By moving cargo charge payments into a digital environment, PSW and PAA aim to create a smoother experience for businesses. The project also represents another step toward reducing paperwork in Pakistan’s trade and aviation sectors.
