Alleged Electricity Theft at Hashmi House
The Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) has registered a case of alleged electricity theft against senior politician Makhdoom Javed Hashmi and two others following an inspection at Hashmi House, officials said. This sudden development has sparked intense local interest.
According to MEPCO officials, electricity was allegedly being consumed by installing illegal loops on three electricity meters at the residence. Consequently, the teams took immediate action. Following the inspection, all three meters were disconnected. The utility company intends to enforce strict rules against energy theft.
Multiple Cases Filed and Heavy Fines Imposed
The legal consequences for the residents escalated rapidly after the discovery. Officials said separate cases have been registered under the Electricity Theft Act against Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, Zahid Bahar Hashmi and Shahzeb Hashmi. Each individual now faces formal legal charges.
In addition to the criminal cases, the power company levied massive financial penalties. MEPCO has also imposed a fine of Rs750,000 over the alleged electricity theft. The company demands full payment for the stolen energy.
