ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) convened a political committee meeting where members voiced concerns over deviations from party founder Imran Khan’s directives during the recent protest in Islamabad.
Sources revealed that the committee expressed strong reservations about the decision to hold the protest at D-Chowk instead of Sangjani, as originally directed by Khan. Members openly questioned why the leadership failed to follow the founder’s instructions, highlighting internal divisions within the party.
“Why were Imran Khan’s directives not implemented?” committee members reportedly asked, emphasizing that the protest call was specifically for Islamabad, not D-Chowk.
The meeting also resolved to pursue legal action regarding the alleged deaths of PTI workers during the protest. Members agreed to demand the formation of a judicial commission to investigate these incidents, including the deaths of security personnel. Future strategies for the party were also discussed.
Core Committee Meeting
Later, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar chaired a core committee meeting to review the outcomes of the protest and negotiations with the government. The committee expressed regret and sorrow over the loss of security personnel and PTI workers during the demonstrations.
Gandapur’s Statement
Earlier on Wednesday, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur condemned the government’s alleged use of live ammunition against PTI workers. Speaking at a press conference in Mansehra, he accused the government of practicing fascism and oppression against the party over the last two and a half years.
Gandapur reiterated that PTI remains a peaceful party committed to upholding the rule of law and promoting true democracy for future generations. He emphasized the party’s dedication to protecting democratic principles and ensuring a brighter future for the youth.
