wanted to address ‘public gathering’ in Pakistan: Iranian President Raisi

In Lahore, Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi expressed his desire to speak at a public event during his current three-day official visit to Pakistan.

President Raisi mentioned during his visit to the Allama Muhammad Iqbal mausoleum in Lahore, Pakistan, that he intended to address a public gathering but was unable to do so due to certain reasons. He also expressed his respects to the renowned “poet of the East.”

During his visit, President Raisi expressed that he did not feel disconnected in Pakistan, emphasizing the strong bond between the two nations and their shared affection for Iran. He stated that the hearts of Pakistan and Iran are eternally intertwined.

In regards to Pakistan’s stance on Gaza, Raisi praised the South Asian nation for its unwavering support. He expressed his belief that Palestinians will ultimately triumph in their struggle against Israel.

Furthermore, the president acknowledged the significance of Allama Iqbal’s personality to them. Iqbal’s message on resisting colonialism was highlighted as a crucial inspiration.

President Raisi’s Lahore visit

Previously, the president’s arrival in Lahore was met with a warm welcome from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz at the Allama Iqbal International Airport.

Accompanying Maryam were various prominent figures, including Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Information Minister Azma Bokhari, Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Senator Pervez Rasheed, Minister for Secondary Healthcare and Medical Education Khawaja Suleman Rafiq, Food Minister Bilal Yasin, and Industries Minister Chaudhry Shafay Hussain.

Furthermore, the Chief Secretary, Inspector General of Police, Iranian Consul General Mehran Mowahid in Lahore, and other officials attended the airport event.

During his visit to the city, President Raisi will also tour GC University Lahore and meet with CM Maryam and Governor of Punjab Baligh Ur Rehman. In consideration of the public’s convenience and commuters, the Punjab government declared a public holiday in Lahore today for President Raisi’s visit.

In the future, the Iranian leader, Raisi, is planned to journey to Karachi for a series of meetings with Governor Kamran Tessori and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. During his visit, Raisi will also take time to honor the founder of Pakistan by paying his respects at Quaid’s mausoleum in Karachi. Following his stay in the city, Raisi will return to Tehran on Wednesday.
