Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Tuesday that his country should face the fact that it will not join the NATO military alliance led by the United States, a main Russian worry cited to justify its invasion.
“Ukraine is not a NATO member. That is something we are aware of. We’d heard for years that the doors were open, but that we were never able to enter. It’s a fact that must be acknowledged,” during a video conference with military leaders, Zelensky added.
Zelensky also tweeted for the world states and leaders to make sanctions on Russia more strict. Mr Zelensky also addressed “Russian citizens,” “Russian Federation leaders,” and persons working in the Russian media’s “propaganda apparatus” in a speech to his country and the rest of the globe. He informed them that the war would end in “shame and destitution” for them, followed by “years of seclusion,” and that “what happens next depends on their actions.”
