Sher Afzal Marwat has been served a show-cause notice by PTI for making ‘irresponsible statements’

In yet another setback for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Sher Afzal Marwat, the party issued a show-cause notice to him on Saturday for breaching its code of conduct and policy.

The notice, from the PTI’s central secretariat, highlighted Marwat’s “irresponsible statements” damaging the party’s reputation and interests, despite clear instructions from founder Imran Khan.

Additionally, it stated that the politician’s actions and words have strained relationships with fellow party members and stakeholders.

The party’s central secretariat has called upon Marwat to provide a written explanation within three days of receiving the show-cause notice, detailing why disciplinary measures should not be enforced against him.

The notice warns, “If your response is deemed unsatisfactory or if you fail to respond, further action will be taken according to party policies and regulations.”

Marwat, known for his outspoken and contentious remarks, has been engaged in conflicts with various party leaders, including Taimur Khan Jhagra, Omar Ayub, and Shibli Faraz.

On May 9, Ayub announced that PTI had removed Marwat from its core and political committees under Khan’s orders. Ayub emphasized that Marwat had been repeatedly cautioned about violating the party’s policies.

“Ayub added, “The PTI founder accused Marwat of attempting to harm his personal relations with Saudi Arabia, where he maintains strong ties with Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman.”

Prior to this, PTI nominated Sheikh Waqas Akram to replace Marwat as the chairman of the National Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
