Rana Sanaullah Affirms PPP’s Integral Role in Government and Shared Responsibility

Rana Sanaullah, a senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) has stated that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) would be an integral part of the government and would bear the responsibility going forward.

Rana Sanaullah underscored that the PPP remains an integral part of the coalition, irrespective of whether they secure a share in the cabinet. He clarified that in the event of PPP supporting the PMLN for the Prime Minister’s position, an expectation exists for reciprocal support when it comes to the President’s vote.

Sanaullah asserted that the PPP would share responsibility for the government’s decisions, being credited for successes and criticized for failures. He noted that while the PPP might manage the situation politically, it won’t deceive political workers.

Referring to past experiences, he mentioned the formation of a committee for decision-making, which would then seek approval from the cabinet—an informal arrangement. Sanaullah highlighted Shehbaz Sharif’s experience in running a coalition government, noting that the previous coalition involved 13 parties, while the new one would include only three.

Addressing potential candidates for the post of governor from PPP in Punjab, he mentioned Qamar Zaman Kaira and Nadeem Afzal Chan as good options. Regarding discussions with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Sanaullah indicated flexibility in distributing ministries and addressing constitutional amendments raised by the MQM.

When it came to talks with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Sanaullah expressed PMLN’s attempts at dialogue but characterized PTI’s agenda as chaos. He claimed that despite extending an olive branch, the PMLN received only abuse in return. Sanaullah criticized Imran Khan for what he perceived as a destructive agenda.

Regarding individuals affiliated with the PTI in prison, Sanaullah disagreed with the notion of them being political prisoners, asserting that they had taken up arms against the state. However, he acknowledged that the court had the authority to release anyone it deemed innocent.

On the topic of reserved seats, Sanaullah clarified that there was no extension in the time to submit lists, emphasizing that the Election Commission of Pakistan would allot seats whenever notified. Regarding Nawaz Sharif’s involvement in the government, Sanaullah stated that every action taken by PMLN’s government would require approval from Nawaz Sharif.

Finally, addressing internet restrictions, Sanaullah attributed the responsibility to the interior ministry, mentioning that such decisions are made with the consent of the prime minister. However, he noted that he was unaware of recent restrictions and suggested directing the question to current officials.
