MOSCOW – Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, on Wednesday, praising the two nations’ cooperation on the Syrian crisis and other international challenges.
At the outset of their meetings at the Kremlin, Putin greeted Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, saying that “joined efforts by Moscow and Tehran have played a vital role in helping the Syrian government face the challenges presented by international terrorists.”
“We would like to have sustainable and comprehensive relations with our friend, Russia,” Raisi said in his meeting with Putin as per the Iranian state media. He also added, “We see no restrictions in developing relations….. [which] will be strategic”.
Russia and Iran have teamed together to support Syrian President Bashar Assad, assisting his government in reclaiming most of the country’s territory following a catastrophic civil war.
