PTI’s Omar Ayub Khan Labels Newly Elected PM Shehbaz Sharif as a ‘Product’ of Form 47

ISLAMABAD: In a scathing critique of the ruling coalition in the National Assembly, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader, Omar Ayub Khan, labeled newly elected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as a “product” of Form 47, a document providing unconfirmed results, including the number of votes cast and canceled.

The PTI claimed its mandate was stolen in the February 8 general elections, asserting that results were altered in Form 47s while claiming to have won 180 NA seats based on Form 45 statistics.

Ayub, addressing the parliament after losing the election for the PM slot, criticized the Shehbaz-led government, considering it a continuation of the former Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM)-led regime. He highlighted past “discriminations” against the former ruling party, citing denied requests for reserved seats during elections for speaker and deputy speaker positions.

The PTI leader pointed out objections to Shehbaz Sharif’s nomination papers being dismissed and lamented the PTI losing its iconic election symbol, the cricket bat. Ayub accused the former PDM-led government of being “fascist” and questioned the responsibility for the deaths of journalist Arshad Sharif and PTI worker Zille Shah.

Demanding an independent inquiry into the May 9 riots triggered by the arrest of the deposed prime minister, Ayub sought the speaker’s ruling for a live telecast of his speech, drawing attention to what he perceived as a dual standard in the country’s laws. He claimed that Nawaz Sharif received a biometric facility at the airport in violation of laws and accused the ruling coalition of knowing their mandate was fake.

Amid disruptions and protests from lawmakers in the ruling alliance, Ayub demanded an impartial inquiry into the killing of dozens of PTI supporters on May 9. He called for the release of over 10,000 PTI workers and supporters currently in custody and urged the freedom of party leadership, including the former prime minister and his wife, Bushra Bibi.
