ISLAMABAD: PTI leader Asad Qaiser urged an end to what he referred to as ongoing “propaganda” against his party and called upon “powerful quarters” to ensure free and fair elections in the country.
In a video statement, Qaiser, unlike many of his peers who left the PTI after the May 9 violence. He emphasizes that the one-sided propaganda being directed against the party and Imran Khan would not eliminate the PTI.
On the contrary, he believed that such negative propaganda was actually boosting the PTI’s popularity. He criticized the incumbent government’s performance, questioning its ability to address inflation and improve governance during its tenure.
Qaiser challenged the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) to show any sector. Where they had performed well in the past 14 months.
However, he called upon the powerful sectors to show mercy to the country. And ensure fair and free elections within constitutional provisions to protect them from harm.
He further expressed concern about “illegal and unlawful” crackdowns on the PTI. And how the party was being denied its constitutional right to freedom of expression and political activity within the confines of the law.
He cited instances of raids on PTI workers’ and leaders’ homes in various parts of the province (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) and deemed it a violation of both the law and the Constitution.
Qaiser stressed the importance of the rule of law for the progress of the country and questioned it. Why the PTI was depriving of its constitutional rights and protections. He also questioned whether the alleged scheme to keep the PTI out of the upcoming elections would bring stability to the nation.
Ultimately, Qaiser affirmed that it was the right of the people to elect a party into power or remove it. The fate of the PTI chairman’s return to power or someone else’s would be decides by the nation.
