PTI Expresses Willingness to Engage in Talks with PPP and PML-N For Political Harmony

Political Harmony

ISLAMABAD: Facing challenges from various fronts, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) appears to have acknowledged the necessity of engaging with other political entities, including the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), to navigate the complex electoral landscape.

A PTI leader revealed to journalists that while the party is initially reluctant to negotiate with the PPP and PML-N, circumstances may compel them to engage in talks, prompting the inclusion of a ‘healing the politics’ chapter in the party’s manifesto.

Despite actions against PTI workers and activists, the leader asserted that the party’s morale remains undiminished. Following impactful gatherings in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the PTI plans nationwide conventions to revitalize its election campaign, even if the Election Commission of Pakistan denies them the ‘bat’ symbol. In anticipation of a potential ban on participating in elections, the PTI is prepared to field independent candidates.

Learning from past mistakes, the PTI vows not to choose inappropriate representatives and commits to forming a government only with a clear parliamentary majority. The party acknowledges the 2018 governance decision as a blunder, pledging not to repeat such errors. The leader emphasized that Imran Khan recognizes the imprudence of forming a government without a clear mandate.

Regarding recent PTI appointments, including Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, the leader clarified that Imran Khan had initially approached Hamid Khan for the role, but he declined. Addressing perceptions of the PTI being dominated by lawyers, the leader contended that the party has garnered significant support within the legal community.

On the Afghan issue, the PTI leader criticized the government’s handling, expressing concerns about the potential repercussions for Pakistan. He predicted that mishandling the Afghan situation could escalate border tensions, emphasizing the need for a peaceful Pak-Afghan border. In response to questions about potential election interference, the PTI leader suggested that disruptions could lead to delays or suspensions, with the Supreme Court potentially playing a role. Overall, PTI acknowledges political reality, considers talks with PML-N and PPP for electoral survival, seeking political harmony.
