PTI chairman Imran Khan refuses to appear in NAB’s Toshakhana case

ISLAMABAD: The Chairman of PTI, Imran Khan, has expressed his inability to appear in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) probe regarding the Toshakhana case.

In his written response NAB, Khan stated that he is appearing in the courts of Islamabad on July 19. Former PM said that he could not attend the NAB hearing on the same day.

Imran Khan further explained that due to security concerns, he infrequently travels from Lahore to Islamabad. He also referred to Section 18(c) of the NAB, which stipulates that only he can receive the inquiry report.

Consequently, he requested that once NAB receives his response, the bureau should should hand over report to his lawyer, Barrister Gohar.

Khan recalled a previous incident where he had overlooked the inquiry report when the Supreme Court ordered his release in the Al-Qadir Trust case.

He pointed out that Barrister Gohar had received the inquiry report from the NAB officer at that time.

Imran Khan said that his counsel would collect the inquiry report pertaining to the Toshakhana case on his behalf.

Moreover, Imran Khan, Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), appeared before a joint investigation team (JIT) and provided a defense for the protests carried out by his supporters within the cantonment areas.

A six-member panel comprising a DIG, SSP, and four SPs probed Imran Khan for an hour at the DIG Investigation headquarters.

The interrogation focuses on his alleges involvement in the attacks on the Corps Commander House in Lahore and other military installations in the city.

The JIT members assured Imran Khan that they would only ask professional questions.

To a question, PTI leader termed the May 9 incidents a conspiracy against him and PTI.
