PTI Alleges Abduction of Usman Dar’s Brother in Lahore; Police Deny Involvement

LAHORE: On Saturday, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) asserted that Umar Dar, the brother of former party leader Usman Dar, has reportedly been abducted in Lahore.

The PTI accused PML-N’s Khawaja Asif of orchestrating the incident to undermine the Dar family’s standing in the upcoming elections.

A Lahore police spokesman, Agha Ehtesham, dismissed reports suggesting that the police detained Umar but did not provide additional details.

In a video shared by the PTI on X, Umar’s mother disclosed her son’s abduction in Lahore and appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to intervene and address the situation.

She expressed distress as a mother and widow and urged the CJP to ensure her son’s appearance in court.

The PTI, in an Instagram post, labeled Umar Dar’s abduction during the election scrutiny phase as another instance of the mockery of law in Pakistan.

Supporting the PTI’s claims, party leader Omar Ayub Khan condemned the abduction, stating that Umar, son of Rehana Dar, who submitted nomination papers against Asif in Sialkot, was abducted by unknown individuals in Lahore.

Ayub asserted that the reign of terror against PTI persists and emphasized that Imran Khan and PTI will prevail because they are on the right path.

Simultaneously, a petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court seeking the recovery of Umar Dar. The plea names key figures such as the Punjab police chief and Lahore CCPO as respondents and argues that the Dar family is facing persistent political vendetta. The petition urged the court to order the recovery and appearance of the missing individual.

The Dar family’s complaints of police raids and mistreatment are not new. Earlier this month, Dar’s mother accused Asif and the police of raiding their Sialkot home and mistreating her, allegations denied by Asif and the Sialkot police.

In August, Usman Dar stated that his house, factory, and businesses in Sialkot were sealed, and his family members were stranded due to what he described as state highhandedness. In October, Usman announced quitting the PTI and politics following condemnation of the May 9 incident.
