In Karachi, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has taken a strategic step by forming a four-member committee with the specific mandate of reaching out to various political parties to garner support for its presidential candidate, Asif Ali Zardari, in the upcoming elections.
The committee, comprising esteemed leaders Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, Raja Parvez Sharaf, Syed Khursheed Shah, and Syed Naveed Qamar, has been entrusted with the crucial task of initiating contact with different political entities. This move reflects the PPP’s proactive approach to building alliances and securing backing for Zardari’s candidacy.
In a significant development on February 21, the PPP and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) jointly announced Asif Ali Zardari as their consensus candidate for the presidential elections.
During a press conference held at Zardari House in Islamabad, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari unveiled the alliance’s plan, stating that PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif would reassume the role of the country’s prime minister.
Bilawal underscored the commitment of the PML-N to support Asif Ali Zardari’s candidacy for the presidency, emphasizing his status as a joint nominee. He articulated the shared aspiration to align their efforts with the expectations of the people.
Bilawal further conveyed that both parties are poised to form a coalition government, with Shehbaz Sharif anticipated to lead as the country’s prime minister once again. The collaborative approach aims to address Pakistan’s challenges, with hopes for a successful resolution through joint endeavors.
