Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur issued a stern warning to the province’s Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, cautioning him against issuing political statements and engaging in confrontation due to his limited role in a constitutional office.
Addressing Governor Kundi directly, the Chief Minister emphasized the constitutional nature of the governor’s post and urged him to refrain from political involvement and confrontation.
Gandapur’s remarks followed Governor Kundi’s response to earlier statements by the Chief Minister regarding the potential occupation of the governor’s office. Speaking at a gathering organized by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Dera Ismail Khan, Gandapur asserted his stance against the imposition of the governor’s rule, stating that only the rule of the people is acceptable in the province.
In response, Governor Kundi warned Gandapur against any attempts to attack the Governor’s House, asserting his readiness to defend the premises. He cautioned Gandapur, stating that unlike in Islamabad, there would be no escape for him in KP, and he would face consequences for his actions.
The exchange of words escalated further as Kundi advised Gandapur to control his language and behavior, referring to him as a “hooligan”. Gandapur, in turn, challenged the legitimacy of Kundi’s governorship, asserting that the governor has no authority to make political statements or engage in confrontations.
Asserting his authority, Gandapur even threatened to convert the Governor’s House into a public museum and relocate Kundi to a smaller residence, emphasizing the governor’s lack of significance in provincial politics.
CM Gandapur also reminded Governor Kundi to stay within the bounds of his role and reiterated that the governor holds no authority or relevance in the current political landscape of the province.
