PML-N’s Mushahid Hussain Syed Advocates General Amnesty for Political Prisoners

Political Prisoners

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed called for a general amnesty for political prisoners, including the incarcerated founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Speaking on the Senate floor, Syed declared, “I was the first to demand the release of the PTI chairman, now everyone should be pardoned after general elections.”

The PML-N legislator emphasized that he had previously advocated for the release of Nawaz Sharif during the rule of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and is now urging amnesty for all, including the founder of PTI.

Additionally, Syed proposed the allocation of reserved seats in the assemblies for the Supreme Islamic Council (SIC).

Addressing the issue of missing persons, Syed noted that over 500 missing workers of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) have been recovered, with only 13 still missing. He highlighted that the committee had presented a report on missing persons in Balochistan.

Currently serving jail terms in cases related to cipher, toshakhana, and an ‘un-Islamic’ marriage, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s situation was also discussed during the proceedings.

After recent election results, Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed urged magnanimity from Nawaz Sharif and suggested extending a hand to include Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in the political system. He advised his party leadership to visit the founder of PTI as a gesture of reconciliation.
