PML-N Warns: KP Risks Becoming Afghanistan’s Tora Bora Under Gandapur as CM

Afghanistan’s Tora Bora

The rejection of election results and a stark warning about the potential transformation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) into Afghanistan’s Tora Bora under the leadership of Ali Amin Gandapur as Chief Minister (CM) have intensified political tensions in the region. Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter spokesperson, Ikhtiar Wali Khan, voiced strong reservations on Thursday, alleging an anti-state agenda behind the appointment of Gandapur as the CM.

Tora Bora, historically associated with the December 2001 battle, where a U.S.-led coalition targeted the cave complex in the White Mountains, carries significant symbolism in this context. The spokesperson warned that if Gandapur assumes the CM role, a situation akin to Balochistan may arise in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, asserting that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is plotting to turn the province into Tora Bora.

This statement comes amid the PTI’s nomination of Ali Amin Gandapur as the Chief Ministerial candidate for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the aftermath of the general elections in 2024. PTI founder Imran Khan affirmed this nomination and expressed a firm stance against engaging in talks with PML-N, PPP, and MQM.

Ali Amin Gandapur, a prominent Pakistani politician and former Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, now stands as a key figure in the unfolding political landscape. His nomination for the CM position has heightened tensions, with PML-N rejecting the election results in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

As political dynamics intensify, the accusations and warnings underscore the deepening polarization and apprehensions surrounding the future leadership in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The province is now at the center of a charged political discourse, with allegations of anti-state agendas and ominous comparisons adding to the complexities of the post-election scenario. The unfolding events will likely shape the political trajectory of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and have broader implications for the political landscape of Pakistan.
