ISLAMABAD: Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), declared on Tuesday that his party is determined to prevent “fraudsters” from governing the nation any longer.
Speaking at a public gathering in Kasur, the former prime minister reflected on his past tenure, highlighting achievements such as fixing the price of roti at Rs4.
He criticized his opponents, accusing them of causing harm to the country and exacerbating inflation.
Sharif questioned the unfulfilled promises of eggs, chickens, bulls, 10 million jobs, and the construction of five million houses, labeling them all as fraudulent schemes.
Asserting the support of the youth for the PML-N, Sharif pledged to contribute to restoring the country’s status as an Asian Tiger.
He lamented his removal from power, claiming that had he not been ousted, the nation’s prosperity would have continued unhindered.
Despite the upcoming elections on February 8, Sharif celebrated what he perceived as an impending victory.
Addressing another gathering in Gujranwala, he indirectly criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), dismissing their claim of youth support due to their use of vulgar language on social media.
Sharif emphasized that the youth who respect their parents and elders stand with him.
Referring to a Transparency International report, he highlighted that corruption was less prevalent during the PML-N’s tenure according to the organization’s findings.
