President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Shehbaz Sharif, recently proposed a seat adjustment with the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP).
In response, a delegation from IPP, led by patron-in-chief Jahangir Khan Tareen, met with the former prime minister on Thursday. The IPP’s central executive committee discussed the proposal and decided to respond accordingly.
During the meeting, Shehbaz Sharif and IPP leaders, including Awn Chaudhry, exchanged views on the current political situation in the country.
Earlier, the IPP had strongly criticized the intra-party polls conducted by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). IPP spokesperson Firdous Ashiq Awan expressed concerns about the PTI’s intra-party polls, stating that they were against the constitution and law. She called on the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to take notice and urged strict action against the PTI.
Firdous Ashiq Awan specifically addressed the appointment of Barrister Gohar Ali Khan as the PTI chairman, highlighting that the appointment without due process went against the party’s manifesto and democratic traditions. She criticized the so-called PTI intra-party polls, labeling them as a manifestation of dictatorship and urged the ECP to intervene.
In summary, the PML-N and IPP are in discussions for a seat adjustment, and the IPP has strongly denounced the PTI’s intra-party polls, calling for intervention by the Election Commission of Pakistan.
