Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has reportedly extended an ‘offer’ to the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), proposing the presidency, NA speakership, and Senate chairmanship in exchange for support in forming governments in both the central and Punjab region.
Inside sources reveal details of a meeting between the leadership of Pakistan People’s Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz to finalize the formation of a unity government, given that no party secured a simple majority in the Feb 8 elections.
PML-N has presented three constitutional positions to the PPP to secure its backing in both the central and Punjab regions. The positions offered to PPP include the presidency, speaker of the National Assembly, and Senate chairman. Additionally, PML-N has reportedly agreed to grant the chief ministerial position in Balochistan to the Bilawal-led party.
Moreover, PML-N has supposedly proposed the deputy chief ministerial position or the role of senior minister in Punjab to the PPP. Both parties are said to have agreed to continue negotiations, with further discussions planned in the Central Executive Committee’s meeting.
In a related development, former Sindh chief minister Murad Ali Shah emphasized that the Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) would decide between allying with a political party to establish a government at the center. Murad Ali Shah mentioned that Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto would seek the opinion of the Central Executive Committee on the matter.
