ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed optimism that the caretaker PM-designate, Anwaar-Ul-Haq Kakar, will ensure the conduct of transparent, free, and impartial elections, which are anticipated to occur next year.
The premier congratulated Kakar on his selection for the esteemed position, referring to the choice as a “welcoming” development due to Kakar’s Balochistan origins. Prime Minister Shehbaz praised Kakar as an educated and patriotic individual.
Highlighting the efforts of his own administration in achieving economic stability over the past 16 months, the prime minister hoped that Kakar’s interim government would uphold similar policies to maintain economic stability.
However, he encouraged Kakar to uphold the continuity of development, construction, and economic progress, which are integral for Pakistan’s advancement and the well-being of its citizens.
“I pray that the caretaker prime minister and his cabinet fulfill the expectations of the people and the constitution,” Prime Minister Shehbaz stated in his message for the interim premier.
The prime minister also extended gratitude to Leader of the Opposition Raja Riaz for his contributions to the consultation process.
Quoting the premier, a statement from the PM’s Office mentioned, “A good name decides upon while following the constitutional procedure.”
The appointment of Senator Kakar as the eighth caretaker prime minister of Pakistan select through consensus between the outgoing PM and Riaz. President Dr Arif Alvi subsequently endorsed their recommendation.
Senator Kakar currently serves as the chairman of the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) and is widely accepting for his intellectual acumen. He holds a Master’s degree in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Balochistan.
The statement underscored, “The trust entrusted in Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar’s name by all the parties is a sign of our right choice.
