PM Shahbaz refuses to inaugurate ‘substandard’ flood dashboard

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday declined to officially launch a flood dashboard created to track the assistance being given to flood victims in real-time.

Aminul Haque, the minister of information technology, and Ahsan Iqbal, the minister of planning, among others, were present at a ceremony to introduce the dashboard when the prime minister was there.

PM Shehbaz Sharif, who was present at the ceremony, voiced his displeasure with the flood dashboard’s features and asked a number of questions about it.

“This dashboard didn’t meet the required criteria internationally. While giving instructions to officials, the PM stated, “Update it by next Monday, and I will inaugurate it following week.”

The flood relief dashboard, according to Prime Minister Shehbaz, must include all pertinent details regarding each item, including the origin and destination of relief supplies like comforters and baby food.

Dr. Umar Saif and other technological specialists sought to persuade the premier that they would resolve all problems within a week, but in the end Sharif resisted the idea of launching it.

In the meantime, federal minister Ahsan Iqbal presided over a meeting of the National Flood Response Coordination Centre (NFRCC), which provided an update on the rescue and relief efforts in the flood-affected districts.

Maj. Gen. Zafar Iqbal, the National Coordinator, and the Chairman of the NDMA attended the meeting.

The committee was made aware of the Turkish relief trains and Pakistani relief planes. The briefing informed the session that nine trains had arrived with relief supplies and that six trains’ worth of flood relief supplies had been distributed. “Today, relief supplies from the last three trains will be unloaded.”

The summit gave the health ministry instructions on how to deal with issues with healthcare for mothers and children.

Malaria, dengue, and other contagious diseases must be controlled, according to Federal Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal.

Models of eco-friendly shelter dwellings were shown to the meeting. The assembly was informed that “a thorough plan has been established for construction of shelter dwellings in suggested model towns.”
