Imran Khan, Pakistan’s Prime Minister, said on Sunday that the state and courts were responsible for stopping the “corrupt” and “convicted” politicians who were trying to “topple the state” through horse-trading.
It is the responsibility of the state to speak out against this practice when people who are facing criminal charges join together and try to overthrow the country’s government, to use the money they have in the courts to buy off people [lawmakers], to use the stolen money to buy their consciences, it is the state’s duty to do so.
Prime Minister Imran Khan had been the target of a no-confidence motion by the unified opposition, which placed its faith in rebellious members of the ruling party and its supporters as a guarantee that the move would be successful.
Several major opposition figures are expected to gather tomorrow night (Monday) for dinner at Shehbaz Sharif’s house to discuss a plan for a successful vote of no confidence in the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president.
“I didn’t join politics to see how much potatoes and tomatoes cost,” – PM Imran Khan
His major goal when he entered politics 25 years ago was not to lower the prices of “potatoes and tomatoes,” but to build a magnificent nation for Pakistanis.
“I didn’t need to enter politics since I had already accomplished everything in my life, but I entered politics simply for the sake of the future of the kids,” he said.
It is only possible to establish national cohesiveness if individuals of all origins share the same philosophy; the premier stated.
“Until we stop using slogans like ‘Wake up Punjabi’ and ‘Sindhu Desh,’ and refrain from organising independence movements, we will never be one nation.”
It was said by the prime minister that the country will resist those who sought to overthrow the government by “buying MPs’ conscience with money.”
“The leaders never bow down to anyone,” Prime Minister Imran Khan stated. While making fun of the PPP chairman for stating “Kanpain taang rahi hain” instead of “Tangain kaanp rahi hain,” he said, “Our [previous] rulers’ legs shook in front of Western leaders.”
The prime minister remarked that “Shehbaz Sharif, Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari were “trembling” when he scolded the envoys of European nations for requesting Pakistan to officially denounce Russia for attacking Ukraine.”
“I’ve lived in the West for a long time, and I know it better than they do… Anyone who cleans their [West] boots is looked down upon,” he quipped.
PM Imran further stated that the United States carried out 400 drone attacks within Pakistan from 2008 to 2013, but then administrations headed by the PPP and the PML-N did not object to this practice.
However, we will not sacrifice our national interests in order to maintain good ties with other countries. “I will neither submit to anybody nor will I allow the nation to submit to anyone.”
The prime minister maintained that he has consistently condemned these attacks, held sit-ins, and made speeches in the United States and the United Kingdom, calling these attacks a gross violation of basic human rights and universal values.
Prime Minister further voiced his belief that Pakistan will soon become a great country and establish a pattern for the rest of the world by adhering to the ideals of “Riyasat-e-Madina.”
Pakistan, he claimed, took a cautious stance in the wake of the recent Indian missile misfire. “Pakistan is a country that can defend itself”.
According to him, Pakistan’s economy is developing in the correct direction.
The prime minister mentioned the example of Pakistan’s founding father, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, as an example of a real leader who inspires his people.
Individuals and countries that have self-respect are respected by the rest of the world, he concluded.
“It is my first and primary obligation as PM of a country of 220 million to safeguard the rights and interests of my people. I will not allow any policy that harms my country to go into effect. I will not compromise national interests in order to appease any other country,” he insisted.
A statement by EU ambassadors criticising Russia’s war with Ukraine violated all diplomatic etiquette, Prime Minister said.
“How come they didn’t send this letter to India?” He insisted. “We are not enslaved to anybody else.”
‘The opposition cares more about corruption cases than individuals’
Prime Minister Imran Khan presided over a crucial meeting of the governing party’s top leaders earlier in the day, during which the no-confidence vote plan was reviewed.
Prime Minister claimed that the opposition was not worried about the people but about their own corruption matters.
With the help of their government partners, they have created a strategy to defeat the opposition’s no-confidence resolution.
As a preemptive move against the opposition’s no-confidence vote in the lower house of parliament, the administration led by the PTI plans to hold a demonstration in Islamabad’s D-Chowk with one million participants.
For the PTI’s “great power display,” Ali Nawaz Awan said on Twitter that the premier had given him the duty of gathering one million PTI activists and supporters.
