Decision-Making
Former Sindh governor and senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Muhammad Zubair, disclosed the challenges of being the spokesperson for Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz during an interview. Expressing disappointment with the current state of his party’s leadership, Zubair revealed that he is not involved in the decision-making processes within the PML-N, a significant revelation as the nation gears up for the upcoming general election on February 8.
Zubair, following in the footsteps of Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Miftah Ismail, openly voiced his dissatisfaction with the party’s direction. Despite stating that he is likely associated with the PML-N, he clarified that he is in the party “just like Abbasi.”
Reflecting on his extensive support for the PML-N from 2013 to 2018, Zubair highlighted his pivotal role as the spokesperson for Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz during challenging times. He emphasized the difficulty of the task, particularly after Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification in 2017, noting that very few individuals dared to visit Jati Umrah during that trying period.
Zubair acknowledged his honor in being appointed as the spokesperson for the political heavyweights and underscored the challenging nature of the role. Addressing his current status within the party, he compared the situation to cricket, stating, “In cricket, there are T20 and Test players. During the Test matches, T20 players are dropped.”
Furthermore, Zubair highlighted the PML-N’s pursuit of a level-playing field in the 2018 election, claiming that the party was denied equal opportunities for electioneering. As Pakistan prepares for the crucial upcoming election, Zubair’s revelations provide insights into the internal dynamics and challenges within the PML-N.
