KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) has taken a progressive step by introducing a ‘digital polling card’ for voters in Karachi in preparation for the 2024 general elections.
In a move aimed at enhancing convenience for their voters, the MQM-P’s IT wing has developed the “My Voter” mobile application. This innovative app offers a streamlined process for voters by furnishing a digital polling card and comprehensive details once the voter inputs their CNIC number into the “My Voter” mobile application.
Before this technological initiative, the MQM-P had diligently shortlisted 200 candidates for the forthcoming general elections in 2024. The parliamentary board of the MQM-P conducted a meticulous two-phase process, interviewing over 600 candidates initially and then narrowing down the list to 200 candidates in the subsequent phase. Sources reveal that the final list of candidates will be submitted to the Rabita Committee for further consideration.
In adherence to the election schedule, the deadline for deciding appeals against Returning Officers’ decisions is January 10, 2024. Following this, a revised list of candidates will be published on January 11.
The final list will be released on January 12, with election symbols allotted to candidates on January 13. The polling day is scheduled for February 08, 2024. Notably, this election program encompasses seats reserved for women and non-Muslims in the National Assembly and provincial assemblies of Punjab, Sindh, KP, and Balochistan provinces, ensuring an inclusive electoral process.
