New revelations have emerged following the conditional pardon offer made by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Founder Imran Khan, bringing significant new evidence to light regarding the tragic events of May 9.
Recent findings include a substantial collection of digital evidence and CCTV footage that provides a clearer picture of the violent incidents that unfolded on that day.
According to police sources, a total of 81 videos have been identified as crucial digital evidence in the aftermath of the May 9, 2023, riots.
This footage, along with 2,046 images depicting the extensive damage and unrest caused during the protests, forms a key part of the ongoing investigation.
The images include 542 facial recognitions of protesters and 305 vehicle number plates captured on CCTV, which offer vital leads for law enforcement agencies.
The compiled footage offers irrefutable evidence linking Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to the violent riots on May 9.
The clear CCTV recordings and other digital materials shed light on the direct involvement of PTI in the tragic events, eliminating any remaining doubts about the party’s role in the disturbances.
The release of this evidence to the public marks a significant development in the investigation.
Further investigation has revealed that PTI workers inflicted considerable damage on surveillance infrastructure during the unrest.
The destruction included cameras and other surveillance equipment valued at Rs24.6 million.
Among the damaged equipment, cameras worth Rs5.5 million were specifically targeted near Girja Chowk in Lahore.
In total, more than 400 pieces of evidence, including videos, images, and other digital data, have been presented to the courts as part of the investigation.
This comprehensive digital trail is expected to play a crucial role in identifying and prosecuting those responsible for the violence and ensuring that justice is served.
The evidence collected provides a clear and detailed account of the events, reinforcing the need for accountability and proper legal action against the perpetrators.
