In a recent statement addressing the situation in Bannu, Barrister Saif, the advisor on information to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, assured the public that effective measures have been taken to restore control.
Saif emphasized that Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur is personally overseeing developments in Bannu and maintains constant communication with local authorities and officials. He credited timely actions by the provincial government for restoring peace and stability in the region.
According to Saif, a jirga convened on the chief minister’s directive, comprising district administration, political figures, and community leaders, played a crucial role in achieving this peace.
“The jirga has played a pivotal role in the restoration of peace,” Saif affirmed.
Additionally, Saif disclosed that the chief minister has formed a committee consisting of political, social leaders, and administrative officials to ensure future law and order measures are undertaken in consultation with the community.
In response to the Bannu incident, Saif revealed that the chief minister has ordered the establishment of a commission to conduct a transparent investigation. This commission will produce a comprehensive report, to be made public, detailing findings and recommending legal actions against those responsible.
Amidst heightened security concerns, Barrister Saif urged the public to exercise vigilance and avoid being misled by anti-national or divisive elements seeking to disrupt peace. He emphasized the importance of awaiting the commission’s report before drawing conclusions or spreading unverified information.
Saif also stressed the need for unity and cautioned against making hasty decisions based on emotional reactions, which could be exploited by adversaries of the nation’s stability and welfare.
