Khurshid Shah Urges Limited-Party Coalition for Optimal Decision-Making in Government

Experienced politician Khurshid Shah has underscored the advantages of having a ‘limited number’ of political parties in a coalition government, emphasizing that such an arrangement would facilitate decision-making and policy implementation. In a recent interview, Shah expressed his belief that a coalition involving two major parties collaborating in decision-making processes would yield optimal results for the government.

Drawing a comparison, Shah cautioned against the potential challenges associated with a coalition comprising six or more parties. He pointed out that such a scenario could lead to complexities similar to those faced by the previous government, specifically referring to the difficulties encountered by the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).

Emphasizing his stance, Shah clarified that he does not advocate aligning with political entities similar to the previous PDM government. His perspective aligns with the belief that a streamlined coalition can lead to more effective governance.

In related developments, former President Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto arrived in Lahore for a ‘crucial post-election meeting.’ The PPP leaders are expected to meet with Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Supremo Nawaz Sharif to discuss challenging election results in NA-127.

The meeting is also anticipated to address PPP’s reservations regarding election outcomes in the Punjab region. Additionally, there is a potential post-election meeting between the leadership of PPP and PML-N in Punjab, indicating ongoing discussions and consultations among key political figures.
