JITs grill
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan faced an extensive grilling as he appeared before two joint investigation teams (JITs) on Sunday.
The investigation was related to 12 cases registered at various police stations under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) and other laws.
The JITs, led by SSP Yasir Afridi and SP Rukhsar Mehdi, respectively, posed several questions to Khan during the proceedings.

During his statement, the former prime minister reiterated his unwavering respect for Pakistan and its national institutions. He expressed deep reverence for the Pakistan Army, martyrs, heroes, and monuments dedicated to the fallen.
Khan denounced the incident that occurred on May 9 but maintained that neither he nor his PTI workers were involved in it. He regarded it as a conspiracy orchestrated against him and his party, according to sources.
“I cannot accept responsibility for the incident, as it is a plot concocted by the government and law enforcement agencies to ensnare me and my party in legal troubles,” he stated emphatically.
In response to a question, the PTI chairman mentioned that he had experienced tyranny from government quarters during an attempted assassination on May 25 the previous year.
He vehemently denied any involvement of PTI workers in the May 9 incident and asserted that he possessed evidence linking the occurrence to a conspiracy.
“They are attempting to eradicate me from politics, but they will not succeed in their endeavors,” Imran concluded.
Imran Khan appeared before the two JITs, which were established under the supervision of DIG (Operations), to address the 12 cases lodged against him. His statements were recorded in seven cases, including four under ATA offenses with the CTD police and three with various police stations.
However, he refused to answer questions related to the remaining five cases, stating that he was not prepared to provide statements regarding them.
Investigators disclosed that the suspects had previously evaded appearing before the JIT for investigation. They mentioned that 12 notices were issued to the former prime minister, with seven from the CTD and six from the JIT, but he had not responded to any of them.
