Independent Victors Embrace PML-N: Bolstering Political Influence Post-Elections

Four additional independent candidates who secured victories in the General Elections 2024 have announced their decision to join the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

In Punjab, two newly elected Members of the Provincial Assembly (MPAs) and an equal number from Balochistan have opted to align themselves with the PML-N after meetings with party officials.

From Balochistan, Wali Muhammad and Abdul Khaliq Khan, who secured victories in PB-41 (Quetta) and PB-51 (Chaman), respectively, have formally joined the PML-N ranks following discussions with party president Shehbaz Sharif. Shehbaz Sharif warmly welcomed the newly elected members, emphasizing the pivotal role of Balochistan’s development in Pakistan’s progress. Notable PML-N leaders, including Balochistan President Jaffer Mandokhel, were also present during the induction ceremony.

In a separate development, Ahsan Raza from PP-180 (Kasur) and Ghazanfer Qureshi from PP-128 (Jhang), both elected to the Punjab Assembly, met with PML-N Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz and formally joined the party. Maryam Nawaz greeted the new members and welcomed them into the PML-N fold.

Ahsan Raza and Ghazanfer Qureshi congratulated Maryam Nawaz on her nomination for Chief Minister of Punjab.

The recent affiliations follow a trend of independent candidates aligning themselves with the PML-N following the General Elections 2024. On February 16, six independent candidates, including an elected Member of the National Assembly (MNA), announced their decision to join the PML-N ranks. Among them, MNA-elect Rasheed Akbar Noorani and five prospective members of the Punjab Assembly expressed their confidence in the leadership of Nawaz Sharif and his party during discussions with Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz.

The influx of independent candidates into the PML-N underscores the party’s growing influence and strategic alliances in key electoral constituencies. As political dynamics continue to evolve, these developments position the PML-N as a formidable force in Pakistan’s political landscape, shaping the trajectory of governance and policymaking in the country.
