Imran Khan, the leader of the PTI and a former prime minister, claimed on Wednesday that the coalition government was planning a new plot to overthrow the PTI government in Punjab.
Imran said in his address to a crowd in Chishtian that a plot was afoot to disqualify him from running in the elections and topple the PTI administration in Punjab. The fugitive and the three stooges are aware that they cannot beat me in elections. They are therefore planning schemes to have the Election Commission of Pakistan disqualify me, he claimed.
According to a media report, Imran claimed that attempts were being made to bring his party and the state institutions into conflict.
He claimed that the current authorities were attempting to instigate a conflict between the main political party and institutions because they knew they couldn’t win the elections. Previously a bastion of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN), he claimed Chishtian now belongs to the PTI.
Imran claimed he was in favor of strengthening state institutions and that he had no issues with the judiciary or any other institutions. “No society can advance without the rule of law,” he declared, adding that he had started a campaign for the judiciary’s independence 26 years earlier.
He also expressed his gratitude to the Chishtian populace for showing up in great numbers to support his fight for true independence from the “corrupt rulers.” After authorities reportedly cut off the country’s access to YouTube to prevent a rally address from being aired live, Imran Wednesday accused the government of enforcing “unacceptable” censorship.
