Imran Khan Open to Discussions with Institutions and Parties on Upcoming Polls, Confirms Lawyer

Upcoming Polls

Shoaib Shaheen states that Imran Khan, currently in jail, maintains complete fitness and health while exercising for one hour daily. He conveys Khan’s message that “a country cannot progress without political stability.

Following a meeting with Imran Khan in Attock Jail, PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s counsel, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, announced on Saturday that the former prime minister is ready to engage in discussions with institutions and political parties regarding elections.

The PTI legal team, consisting of Intezar Panjotha, Shoaib Shaheen, Naeem Panjotha, Gohar Ali Khan, and his personal physician Dr. Faisal Sultan, visited the incarcerated former premier in prison today after receiving permission from ATC Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain.

Gohar Ali declared that Khan, despite facing illegal imprisonment, expressed his willingness to initiate talks with institutions and political parties, with the primary aim of conducting elections within 90 days.

Responding to questions, advocate Shaheen emphasized that Khan is “completely fit” and in good health in jail. He also reiterated Khan’s message that political stability is vital for the country’s progress.

Shaheen mentioned that Khan exercises for one hour daily during his imprisonment and highlighted Khan’s commitment to his political struggle and sacrifice for the nation.

Imran Khan is currently serving a three-year jail term in the Toshakhana case. On August 5, he faced arrest at his Zaman Park residence in Lahore for his conviction in misusing his 2018 to 2022 premiership to purchase and sell gifts in state possession received during visits abroad, totaling more than Rs140 million ($635,000).

Although the Islamabad High Court (IHC) overturned a lower court’s decision to jail him for three years with a Rs100,000 fine, preventing him from contesting upcoming elections, he remains in custody due to his judicial remand in the cipher case.

The FIA officially arrested him in the cipher case earlier this month, booking him under the Official Secrets Act.

Afterward, the authorities remanded him judicially in the cipher case until August 30 while he served his sentence in Attock jail for the Toshakhana case.
