Imran Khan Denies Deal-Making with Military Establishment, Urges Swift Decisions on Cases

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan addressed the ongoing discussions regarding negotiations with the military establishment, asserting that the three individuals he proposed were not put forward for the purpose of striking any deals. He made it clear that he has not delegated the task of negotiations to any retired general.

Speaking from Adiala Jail, former Prime Minister Imran Khan reiterated his readiness to engage in discussions with various parties except for three specific entities. He pointed out the historical trend of deals being brokered when individuals seek to depart the country, citing examples involving figures like Zardari and Nawaz Sharif. Nevertheless, he stressed the fundamental importance of dialogue in the realm of politics.

Expressing exasperation over the introduction of a new case originating from Toshakhana, Khan urged authorities to address all allegations comprehensively rather than continuously bringing up fresh charges. He highlighted what he perceives as a discrepancy in the treatment of cases, noting instances where forgiveness was granted for Zardari’s alleged fake accounts and Nawaz Sharif’s offshore wealth.

Additionally, Khan called for swift hearings on his own legal matters, alleging bias within the judiciary against PTI. He appealed to judges to expedite proceedings and deliver prompt verdicts, emphasizing the injustice inherent in prolonged delays. Khan vehemently refuted accusations leveled against him, including those pertaining to the Al-Qadir Trust, Avenfield, and cipher cases, dismissing them as unsubstantiated and politically motivated.

Earlier, there were reports that Imran Khan had authorized the leadership of the PTI to engage in discussions with both the establishment and other political parties, as stated by party leader Shibli Faraz during a press conference in Lahore on Saturday.

Faraz had emphasized that the terms of reference for these talks would be established in accordance with Imran Khan’s directives. He noted that various leaders would engage in dialogue with both the establishment and political parties based on these terms.
